Why it works
Reduces risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and all-cause mortality. Improves mood, supports weight management. Studies show 7,000–8,000 steps/day reduces mortality risk by 50–70% vs sedentary baseline.
Research backing
A 2023 pooled analysis in JAMA Internal Medicine of over 50,000 adults found that as few as 7,000 steps per day was associated with a 50-70% reduction in all-cause mortality risk compared with a sedentary baseline, with benefits beginning well below the commonly cited 10,000-step target.
